BeautyRival – BeautyHealth, the parent company of Hydrafacial, is entering a new era of leadership. Marla Beck, co-founder of Bluemercury, has stepped down as president and chief executive officer. She officially took the role in March 2024 and will now remain as an advisor.
Taking her place is Pedro Malha, an executive with more than two decades of experience in health care and medical devices. He most recently worked at Abbott Laboratories as worldwide division president and corporate officer, leading the neuromodulation business. Malha also held senior leadership roles at Zimmer Biomet Holdings, Abbott, and Johnson & Johnson in Europe. He holds an MBA from Boston University and a bachelor’s degree from Bentley University.

Brent Saunders, chairman of the board, praised the decision.
“Pedro is an accomplished leader with broad industry experience. His ability to build collaborative, high-performing teams makes him the right person to lead BeautyHealth into its next chapter,” he said.
Saunders also thanked Beck for her leadership.
“We are grateful for Marla’s strong guidance during a pivotal period. She helped position BeautyHealth for sustainable and profitable growth.”
Beck expressed pride in what the company has achieved.
“With the right team and strategy in place, now is the right time to welcome a new CEO. BeautyHealth has a strong pipeline of innovation and bold brand initiatives. I look forward to watching the company thrive under Pedro’s leadership.”

The leadership change comes during a challenging period. In the second quarter of 2025, BeautyHealth reported net sales of $78.2 million, a 13.7 percent drop compared to the year before. The decline was linked to weaker delivery system sales.
Despite this setback, the company sees opportunities for growth. Its innovation pipeline and brand initiatives remain strong. Malha’s experience in global markets and operations is expected to help strengthen long-term profitability.
For Beck, the move to an advisory role marks a shift rather than an exit. She will continue to support the company she helped shape, while Malha takes charge of its future direction.
